Ogata's approach is clear, atmospheric, and evocative. the majority of the game's music, barring a CD audio track and some streamed jingles, uses the PlayStation's sequenced format. while most of the pieces utilize the sound processor's reverb to great effect, it is especially notable on the more ambient pieces, which i was convinced had to have been streamed audio. it goes without saying that Yukihiro Takahashi's (of Yellow Magic Orchestra) contribution, the game's main theme, is a wonderful piece that serves as a fantastic establishing shot for everything within. the original plan with this rip was to work directly from the game's data. i learned how to rip PSF sequences for this soundtrack, but wound up not using them, as i had utilized a generic sound driver, which did not interpret the reverb settings. i have included the PSF files with the downloads regardless, as the game's music had yet to be ripped in this format. it is considered a preliminary set as it uses a generic driver and is completely untagged. as the tracklist shows, i was unable to find where several pieces were used ingame. having played through most of the game myself (language barrier stopped me toward the end) and watched every playthrough available on niconico, i'm at a bit of a loss as to where they show up. i will revise the list with additional names if any more info crops up or is discovered. i hope you enjoy this soundtrack. Tから始まる物語 is an incredible video game, and an unexpectedly ambitious title from otherwise unsuspecting developer JALECO. much respect to all involved in its development. if you are interested in hearing more of Takahiro Ogata's work, i recommend Fire Fighting (aka The Ignition Factor) and Maken X. Fire Fighting has some surprising sound design, and Maken X, while not all his work, expands on the melodic composition style heard in Tから始まる物語.
