The English Dream series (Emit and Dark Hunter) is a duology of two games by Koei specifically to help Japanese speakers learn English. What seemed like a neat idea was met with very poor execution, which led to both games being forgotten over time. Until now... *in movie trailer voice* Let's talk about Koei. Yes, the company that develops all the Musou games, such as Dynasty Warriors and the more recent Persona 5 Strikers. But before all those action titles, Koei was mostly known for simulation games. However, in the early 90's co-founder, Yoichi Erikawa (aka Kou Shibusawa) wanted to try something different. He wanted to make a game to help people learn English and thus the English Dream series came to be. Both Emit and Dark Hunter are Visual Novel-esque games that have Sci-fi Horror Stories ranging in topics from parallel universes to alien cults.
