Rendering Ranger R2 (SNES/Rainbow Arts/1995) [720p 60fps]

Rendering Ranger R2 (レンダリング・レンジャーR2 (ダブルアール)?) is a 1995 side scrolling action video game developed by Rainbow Arts and published by Virgin Interactive for the Super Famicom. The game was released exclusively in Japan on November 17, 1995. Stage 1 - 00:00:20 Stage 2 - 00:05:52 Stage 3 - 00:12:34 Stage 4 - 00:18:08 Stage 5 - 00:28:36 Stage 6 - 00:40:53 Stage 7 - 00:50:00 Stage 8 - 00:55:52 Stage 9 - 01:09:33 This game really pushes SNES to the limits - as you can see in this video, in a lot of situations sprites on screen are simply blinking/disappearing because there are too much of them on screen at the same time. You can really feel like playing again Turrican series, especially at flying stages - what's true because the man responsible for creation of Rendering Ranger R2 (formerly known as Targa where graphics are hand made instead of utilizing renders, thus name was changed) is Manfred Trenz, the father of Turrican series. The game itself isn't so hard like hated by myself Ninja Gaiden games for NES, Castlevania and Megaman series for all of systems (your character acts like an unresponsive doll on stick), gameplay is fluid and fast. The only real problems might come with level 7 and blurry background together with level 8 and multiple bosses to defeat. Players control the titular Rendering Ranger, a special forces soldier tasked with defending the Earth and its remaining inhabitants from a devastating alien invasion. A high score screen is present and there are many different types of laser guns to acquire throughout the post-apocalyptic adventure. The player can choose from three to seven lives. However, there are no continues so practice is essential to winning the game. The player can take five hits before losing a life but pits automatically make him lose a life. Weapons are found in floating orbs, and each color holds a different kind of gun. The game was developed by Manfred Trenz, creator of the Turrican series. This game was only released in Japan, but almost everything is in English. According to an interview with Trenz, he stated that the game was originally named as Targa and it featured hand drawn graphics, and later it was changed to pre-rendered graphics following the success of Donkey Kong Country, hence the name change; however, a Targa prototype was located with the pre-rendered graphics. By the time the game was finally finished, the only company interested in publishing it was the Japanese branch of Virgin Interactive. The game is extremely rare as the production run is estimated to be in the thousands (5000 copies to be more precise).
